Description
Toubkal mountain of Morocco is the highest peak in North Africa (4160 m) and to reach it is a dream of many adventurous travellers. To have this dream come true, I offer to book the 2-days Mountain Toubkal Climb trek that will be led by the most experienced licenced local guide.
The Toubkal mountain 2-days trek is perfect for travellers who don’t have much time in Morocco. To reach the summit you need to have a moderated level of fitness and be used for longer treks. However, you don’t need to have a special climbing experience or preparation. In winter, there will be snow, and you will hike through steep snowy sections where crampons and ice axes could be required (all tools will be provided, rented by your guide in Imlil). For better acclimatization, we do recommend booking the 3 days trek, so contact me if you would like to have an itinerary and price for the longer trek.
The 2 days/1 night ascent of Toubkal mountain is fully supported trekking with fully inclusive: mountain guides, a cook, baggage mules, drinks, meals etc. You will spend an overnight at the Neltner Hut refuge (3207m) at base camp.
2 DAYS MOUNTAIN TOUBKAL TREK ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Toubkal Refuge
In the morning, at 9 am, you will be picked up in your hotel/riad in Marrakech for a 1,5 h drive to Imlil village. Imlil is the main base for attempting to summit Toubkal. Because of its calmness and the authentic local life experience, Imlil is a great escape from the city chaos. There, you will meet your local licenced guide and muleteer for the mountain Toubkal trek. After loading the mules, you will start the trek four to five hours with a moderately challenging speed and steady ascent up the Mizane Valley. On the way, you will pass the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch and walk until you will reach the Toubkal Refuge – your stop for the night.
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Ascent – Imlil – Marrakech
Today you will have the final ascent from Neltner Hut to Toubkal mountain summit (4167m), then back to the Neltner Hut and to Imlil. Overall – 8/10hrs walking.
The long Toubkal mountain trek day will start early morning. From the refuge, you will start trekking the trail zig-zags up the South Col, a long and moderately steep scree slope ascending 750m to the Tizi-n Toubkal Pass. Then, the trail traces a dramatic ridge to the Toubkal summit.
After conquering the Toubkal mountain peak, you will hike back down the mountain for a picnic lunch near to the refugee. Then back to Imlil, will meet your driver and back to Marrakech. Total this day will be around 8-12 hours trekking (depending on your pace).
